Declaración sobre Beyrut de la octava Asamblea General de los Estados Partes

Nueva composición del Comité

Bajo estrictas medidas sanitarias debido a la pandemia mundial de COVID-19, 250 delegados en representación de más de 140 países se reunieron en el octavo período de sesiones de la Asamblea General de los Estados Partes en la Convención de 2003 del 8 al 10 de Septiembre de 2020.
La Asamblea General adoptó varias decisiones importantes para la implementación de la Convención. Los delegados debatieron a lo largo de la reunión sobre los impactos de la pandemia de COVID-19 sobre el patrimonio vivo y aprobaron los principios y modalidades operacionales para salvaguardar el patrimonio cultural inmaterial en situaciones de emergencia.
Los delegados también reafirmaron enérgicamente la necesidad de una reflexión global sobre los mecanismos de inscripción en las listas de la Convención, y de aumentar los esfuerzos para lograr listas geográficamente más representativas, equilibradas y diversificadas. Se celebrarán nuevos debates durante una reunión preliminar de expertos de categoría VI y un grupo de trabajo intergubernamental de composición abierta previsto para junio de 2021
La Asamblea General también debatió y reconoció el importante rol que desempeñan las organizaciones no gubernamentales acreditadas y el Foro de organizaciones no gubernamentales del patrimonio cultural inmaterial en la prestación de apoyo para la aplicación de la Convención. Fueron acreditadas 36 nuevas ONG.
