Float builders spend months on preparing and building the floats. On the day of the parade, the floats pass by through the streets of the town or sail through the canals, with spectators enjoying the view. Parade day is often accompagnied by festivities. The day after the parade the floats are typically on display, to be viewed for the last time before they are dismantled.
