Conference: Leading up to the Meeting of Cultural Traditions as Living Heritage of Latin America
In the framework of the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage, commemorated every October 17th, CRESPIAL and the Mexican Government’s Secretary of Culture are organizing the Round table series “Conference: Leading up to the Meeting of Cultural Traditions as Living Heritage of Latin America.”
This initiative aims to foster a space for dialogue and reflection on management and safeguarding of cultural traditions in the region. The conference follow up on the Ibero-American Meeting on Musical Traditions as Intangible Cultural Heritage (2024) and are part of the preparatory activities for the next biennial meeting, scheduled for 2026, which is oriented towards the development of a regional declaration to strengthen the safeguarding of ICH.
This edition will promote the exchange of ideas on policies and actions related to the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage and will be structured around four thematic panels:
- Management Models and Best Practices for Intangible Cultural Heritage in Urban Contexts.
- Experiences of Intangible Cultural Heritage and Migration Processes.
- Cultural Misappropriation and Collective Property.
- Intangible Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Cultural Tourism.

Day 1 – October 16
Morning
