The link between school and society
This year 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the UNESCO ICH Safeguarding Convention and we consider it a good moment to reflect on the effects of its implementation after two decades of operation. Also, on the role of education in identifying, valuing, interpreting and energising ICH through education, understood from a holistic perspective. Ponte….nas ondas!, a consulting NGO accredited by UNESCO since 2015, recognised in 2022 as a model of good ICH practices in UNESCO, the Xaquín Lourenzo Centre for Popular Culture and the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Social Work of the University of Vigo, are organising this meeting in collaboration with institutions, universities and other ICH organisations with the aim of giving a boost to the educational use of ICH.
