Programme for Schools 2023/2024 “UNESCO Intangible Heritage: 20 years of research and promotion of traditions”

The Club for UNESCO in Turin, in collaboration with UNESCO Chair “New paradigms and instruments for the management of biocultural landscape”, Politecnico di Torino – Links Foundation, has conceived a three-year Programme for Schools 2022/2025 dedicated to the reflection on the value of heritage expressed by the different UNESCO recognitions.

The Programme for Schools 2022/2023 was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of World Heritage Convention. It involved 1,100 students, 70 teachers of 58 classes coming from 27 schools of the Piedmont Region.

The Programme for Schools 2023/2024 will be dedicated to Immaterial Heritage, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

TIMETABLE:

  • 11/13/2023 Opening Day: international and national experts will introduce the theme;
  • 11/27/2023, 12/11/2023, 01/15/2024, 02/19/2024: three-hour training meetings during which the Italian elements inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity will be presented and working ideas will be launched among students and teachers;
  • February – April 2024: Classroom work
  • May 2024 Closing Day: students will present their works (i.e. videos, webpages, PPT presentations, artifacts, etc) concerning the promotion and the safeguarding of ICH.

PUBLICATIONS AND COMMUNICATION:
During the Opening Day a publication, created by the Club for UNESCO in Turin with relevant official informative documentation about the theme, will be distributed to teachers enrolled as a teaching aid for the entire Programme.

At the end of the Programme the Club for UNESCO in Turin will realize another publication containing the proceedings of all the Programme and all students’ works.
