The nineteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee will be generously hosted by Paraguay from 2 to 7 December 2024 in Asunción. The Committee in December 2023 approved this offer with enthusiasm.

H.E. Ms Nancy Ovelar de Gorostiaga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Paraguay to UNESCO will chair the nineteenth session of the Committee with the Bureau members from Germany, Uzbekistan, Viet Nam, Angola and Mauritania.

Paraguay has ratified the 2003 Convention in 2006 and has two inscribed elements : Practices and traditional knowledge of Terere in the culture of Pohã Ñana, Guaraní ancestral drink in Paraguay on the Representative List and Ancestral and traditional techniques for the elaboration of the ‘Poncho Para’i de 60 Listas’, from the city of Piribebuy, Republic of Paraguay on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.

UNESCO thanks Paraguay for offering to host the Committee, which will meet for the second time in Latin America and the Carribean.
