Ms Vanecia Mungapen is a Cultural Heritage Consultant with 20 years of experience in the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. She holds a Master’s degree in International Heritage Management from the University of Birmingham and has extensive expertise in the inventorying, documentation, and safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage at the national level, particularly in Mauritius.
She has contributed to the preparation of four UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage nomination files for the Republic of Mauritius, as well as to the preparation of periodic reports under the 2003 Convention. She has also been involved in community-based and educational heritage projects in Mauritius and France and led the Intangible Cultural Heritage Unit at the National Heritage Fund of Mauritius for nearly 15 years.
