Ms Monalisa Maharjan

Monalisa Maharjan is currently working as a Resident Representative at the South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University. She earned her PhD in Art History with special training on Intangible Culture Heritage from the University of Évora, Portugal, in 2016. Formerly a research fellow at the UNESCO Chair for Intangible Cultural Heritage and CIDEHUS (Centro Interdisciplinar de História, Culturas e Sociedades), she had worked on various projects related to ICH in Portugal. She also has experience in teaching, research and community engagement. Her current research is centered on heritage activism and documenting the chariot processions in Kathmandu Valley.
