Nahla Emam is a recipient of the State Award for Excellence in Social Sciences, she currently serves as Professor of Folk Customs, Beliefs, and Traditional Knowledge at the Higher Institute of Folklore, and an active member of several international and regional bodies. Emam holds a PhD and MA in Folk Arts, along with diplomas in Anthropology from Cairo University. She is also a member of several ICH associations.

She has participated in several international conferences across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Arab region, representing Egypt in cultural and ICH cooperation events.

Emam writings are distinguished by combining anthropological depth with a strong sense of ICH.
