Ioana Baskerville holds degrees in linguistics and ethnology. She is a Senior Researcher at the Romanian Academy – Iași Branch and teaches cultural anthropology. Her professional experience encompasses community-based inventorying and the development of ICH safeguarding strategies at local and national levels. She has extensive expertise in advising on community participation and supporting public institutions and civil society in integrating ICH safeguarding into cultural policies and projects. Her main areas of focus include the role of intangible cultural heritage in education, local development, environmental and economic sustainability, as well as in contexts of migration and displacement.
