The symposium brings together researchers and practitioners from archives, museums, and the cultural heritage sector to discuss the relationship between traditions, documentation, and intangible cultural heritage. Over the course of two days, we will explore everything from the ritual expressions of traditions to questions about how these are understood and put into practice in relation to the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The program includes both individual presentations and panel discussions. What does the interplay look like between different understandings of tradition? What role do tradition archives play, both historically and today, in relation to the UNESCO Convention? What are the relationships between practitioners and the collections?
