GUIDED TOURS OF THE ETHNOGRAPHIC COLLECTION AT THE MUSEUM OF LA RIOJA

VISITAS GUIADAS A LA COLECCIÓN ETNOGRÁFICA DEL MUSEO DE LA RIOJA

The ethnographic collection of the Museum of La Rioja serves as a vital testament to the region’s intangible heritage; each piece transcends its physical form to become a bearer of knowledge, practices, values, and ways of life passed down through generations.

Led by researcher Paula Iruzubieta, these tours explore tools, utensils, clothing, and everyday objects, offering insight into traditions, trades, and crafts. Although many of these have vanished or are at risk of disappearing, they remain an essential part of La Rioja’s cultural identity.

Through this activity, we discover that the museum preserves not only objects from the past but also the collective memory associated with them: the know-how required to use them, the customs surrounding them, and the experiences of the communities that made them their own. Safeguarding and sharing this heritage is therefore crucial to understanding a legacy—both material and intangible—that connects the past with the present and helps keep La Rioja’s cultural identity alive.

Programme

The guided tours will take place every Thursday in October 2026, on 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 October, at 7 p.m.
