"Living Heritage in Latin America and the Caribbean" photo exhibition
The Photo Exhibition “Living Heritage in Latin America and the Caribbean” is the central activitv of the UNESCO Reqional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean in Havana on the 20th anniversary of the Convention. Organised jointly with the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO and the National Council for Cultural Heritage of Cuba, it consists of 21 images with examples of expressions inscribed by Member States of Latin America and the Caribbean on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity: Argentina, Belize -Guatemala - Honduras - Nicaragua, Plurinational State of Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, ArgentinaUruguay and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. lt will be displayed on the gates of the UNESCO Office until 2024.
The opening ceremony will be attended by a large representation of the Diplomatie Corps accredited in Cuba and other relevant Cuban and foreign cultural counterparts. The event will include presentations by exponents and practitioners of three of the five Cuban expressions inscribed on the List and one whose file was recently submitted:
- Knowledge of the light rum masters (lnscribed in 2022)
- Rumba in Cuba, a festive combination of music and dances and all the practices associated (lnscribed in 2016)
- Exhibition of heritage artefacts from La Tumba Francesa (French Drum) (lnscribed in 2008)
