Hip Hop Culture as Intangible Cultural Heritage

On the occasion of UNESCO’s Intangible Heritage Day (October 17), a seminar will
take place bringing together cultural promoters from the national and international hip
hop scene. The meeting aims to establish a permanent international study group on
hip hop as intangible cultural heritage of humanity, focusing on the overarching
themes of the cultural heritage dimension of this movement.

It will be an open forum for the public interested and curious to delve deeper into the
patrimonialization of an urban culture that is now over 50 years old, as well as a
unique opportunity to engage with globally active members. The event is set within a
festival dedicated to the conservation and preservation of hip hop culture in a territory such as Tor Pignattara, where the local community itself has been actively producing this culture for decades.

Organized in curatorship with Hip Hop CineFest and in collaboration with the __Hip
Hop Protection Initiative__.

Present will be practitioners of the various hip hop disciplines, university professors, subject experts, and journalists.
