Equestrian Art in Portugal: from the Picaria Real to the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art
The Equestrian Art in Portugal is a unique and distinctive tradition within Portuguese culture, embodying the perfect harmony between rider and horse.
Visitors are invited on a journey through the world of equestrian art, beginning at the National Coach Museum with a guided tour of the temporary exhibition “Equestrian Art in Portugal: from the Picaria Real to the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art.”
The tour then continues to the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art, featuring a guided visit to its facilities and concluding with a presentation at the Henrique Calado Riding Ring.

No próximo dia 17 de outubro, a Escola Portuguesa de Arte Equestre associa-se ao Museu Nacional dos Coches para assinalar o Dia Internacional do Património Cultural Imaterial, com um programa especial dedicado à Arte Equestre Portuguesa, oficialmente reconhecida como Património Cultural Imaterial pela UNESCO desde dezembro de 2024.
Este evento convida o público a conhecer de perto esta tradição da cultura portuguesa, com início no Museu Nacional dos Coches, para descobrir os meandros da história desta Arte única no mundo, e conclusão no Picadeiro Henrique Calado, onde será possível conhecer os cavalos e os cavaleiros que a mantêm viva nos nossos dias.
