Discovering the Le Morne's Hidden Treasures: A Cultural Heritage Treasure Hunt
The treasure hunt activity aims to foster interest and discovery in the rich intangible cultural heritage of Le Morne village in view of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage among the youth. The event also seeks to educate, create awareness and sensitization amongst participants on the local folklore, traditions, and historical significance while promoting teamwork and outdoor activity. The event is organized to mark the first International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, and will also fit within the context of the 16th Anniversary of Le Morne Cultural Landscape on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The main objectives of this activity are: (i) To educate and build sensitization and awareness among the children about the rich cultural heritage and history of Le Morne; (ii) To promote teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills; (iii) To foster curiosity and sense of exploration among the younger generation on the significance and legacy of their ancestors; (iv) To encourage outdoor activity; (v) To instil a sense of pride and ownership of local cultural heritage among participants.
