Afro-Ecuadorian Heritage on Screen: from ancestral roots to urban expressions
As part of a series of events organized in October 2025 by the Instituto Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural (INPC) to mark the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the INSTITUTO METROPOLITANO DE PATRIMONIO and the MUNICIPIO DEL DISTRITO METROPOLITANO DE QUITO present the forum ‘Afro-Ecuadorian Heritage on Screen: from ancestral roots to urban expressions’, showcasing documentary films produced through joint research projects. The program contrasts traditional Afro-Ecuadorian practices with their urban adaptations in Quito. After screenings, moderated discussions with culture bearers will address challenges in preserving identity amid urbanization.
