4th National bagpipe convention “Apostol Kisyov” village of Stoykite

The interest in the bagpipe art gathered again this year more than 350 participants from all folklore regions of the country at the established emblematic bagpipe festival.
The organizer of the event is the Community Cultural Centre “Probuda 1903”, which for 120 years has been safeguarding and transmitting the values of the intangible cultural heritage of the Rhodopes to the next generations. This year’s celebration of the Convention 20th anniversary adds an extra layer of significance to the festivities.
Before the start of the event, thousands of guests had the unique opportunity and visited the Public Collection, “The Bagpipe Ancient and Eternal”, which is world-class and presents the bagpipe art from the seven folklore regions of Bulgaria.
The event started from the monument of the patron of the event - Apostol Kisyov with the presentation of flowers and honoring his memory. Founded in 1961, the one of a kind opĸester “100 kaba bagpipes“ - emblematic for Bulgaria and known at the world level.

With an impressive participation of more than 350 pipers, the parade passed along the main street to the “Potoka” area. The parade gathered thousands of spectators, admirers of the bagpipe art.

On 25 June, a round table was also held at which topical issues were discussed, such as: “Challenges for the music industry in our time”, “Preserving the style and style of music making xapaĸtepna for all the Bulgarian music industry” and “The area and stage behaviour”.

On both days of the festival there were also performances of folk ensembles from the country and the region. The aim is to transfer the intangible cultural heritage in the Rhodopes.
