Séverine Cachat has been working in the field of living heritage for over twenty years, at the intersection of research, cultural policy, and international cooperation. With a Ph.D. in social anthropology, she has served as an expert for the French Committee for Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2011. Séverine directed the Maison des Cultures du Monde (an accredited NGO) and its French Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage (2011–2021), then worked at UNESCO’s Living Heritage Entity (2024–2025). As a consultant, she continues to help international organizations, institutions, cultural stakeholders, and communities in safeguarding living heritage through consulting, training, and operational projects (strategy, policy frameworks, periodic reports, international assistance, participatory inventories, methods, and tools).
