Overview:

This activity aims to strengthen national capacities for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage in Eastern Africa by supporting States Parties with capacity building for carrying-out community based inventories of ICH. The project was implemented from 2017 to 2018 by the National Heritage Funds, with the objective to strengthen the institutional and human capacities to safeguard the country’s intangible cultural heritage. Through the implemented activities, the project helped reinforce legal frameworks for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, in particular through its inclusion in the National Heritage Bill.
