An inventory of elements of intangible heritage pertaining to the indenture experience in the Republic of Mauritius

Through this project, the Aapravasi Ghat Trust Fund (AGTF) aimed at setting up an inventory of elements of intangible heritage related to the history of indentureship in line with its mission and objectives contained in the Management Plan of the Aapravasi Ghat World Heritage Property. Over 60 elements of intangible cultural heritage were identified under four main themes relating to the

Documentation and inventory of intangible cultural heritage in the Republic of Mauritius

Implemented by the National Heritage Fund, the main achievement of the project was the elaboration of an ‘Inventory and Documentation of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Republic of Mauritius (A First List).’ The project benefited from extensive support of institutions, groups and individuals in the Republic of Mauritius; primary and secondary approaches to data collection and analysis were used in the
