The use of the emblem of the Convention can be authorized in connection with patronage and contractual arrangements and partnerships, as well as specific promotional activities.
- The patronage of the Convention may be granted to an event or punctual activity (please see 8 steps for patronage). These activities can be performances, congresses, meetings, conferences or other national and international events, and works that embody the intangible cultural heritage, except for those produced chiefly for profit.
- A contractual arrangement can be concluded between UNESCO and outside organizations in the framework of partnerships, co-publication and co-production agreements, or promotional and commercial activities.
The two main criteria in assessing any emblem request are:
- relevance of the proposed association to the Convention’s purposes and objectives
- compliance with the principles of the Convention.
