Dr Andrea Richards is a cultural heritage specialist with over 20 years of experience supporting the implementation of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage across the Caribbean and beyond. She has designed and facilitated capacity-building programmes, supported inventorying, safeguarding planning, nominations to UNESCO’s Lists, and the integration of ICH into cultural policies and sustainable development initiatives. Andrea has also contributed to living heritage education, climate resilience, and heritage-in-emergencies programmes, including the integration of ICH into post-disaster needs assessments, recovery planning, Disaster Risk Management frameworks for the culture sector, and the intersections between climate change and traditional knowledge systems. She presently works as a Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of the West Indies.
