I am a social anthropologist and a specialist in the politics of heritage management. My doctoral research was based on long-term fieldwork in Mali and at UNESCO in Paris. In 2020 I published ‘Heritage Justice’ based on research at the International Criminal Court.
I am currently a non-executive Director for Culture at the United Kingdom National Commission for UNESCO and a lecturer in Cultural Heritage Management in the Department of Archaeology, University of Southampton. I am undertaking a new research project with the UK Department of Culture to map the economic impact of the ratification of the 2003 Convention.
