Antoine Gauthier was Director General from 2009 to 2025 for the Conseil québécois du patrimoine vivant (CQPV), an NGO accredited under the 2003 Convention and elected to the Evaluation Body (2024-2027). Within this umbrella organisation, he has led a number of projects, consultations, symposia, training courses and publications. As an expert in intangible cultural heritage and a specialist in the 2003 UNESCO Convention, he regularly gives lectures and workshops. Several of his articles have appeared in national and international publications. He co-founded the ICH NGO Forum. Mr Gauthier holds a master’s degree in international studies from Université Laval (law, economics and political science) and a master’s degree in philosophy from Université de Montréal. He previously worked for the Organisation of World Heritage Cities. As a folk musician and researcher, he has received several grants from the arts councils of Quebec and Canada.
