As a member of the International Network of Facilitators for the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2011, Mohamed has led over 65 international workshops in eight countries (Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, Comoros, Djibouti, Sudan, Libya, and Qatar) focusing on the Convention’s main mechanisms and modules. He trained in mathematics and computer science, specializing in heritage preservation. He is currently the supervisor of the Encyclopedia of Mauritanian Handicrafts as well as chairing the Board of Directors of the National Agency for the Promotion of Handicrafts (TRRGHIYA). As an active member of civil society, he founded the Mauritanian Association for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (AMS-PCI) and served on the Executive Board of the ICH NGO Forum from 2021 to 2025, as vice president, representing the Arab world.
