Xin Yi is a cultural heritage professional with over a decade of experience in managing the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site in Malaysia. Familiar with both the 1972 and 2003 UNESCO Conventions, her work focuses on strategic planning, community engagement, and the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. As a member of the Global Facilitators’ Network under the 2003 Convention, she contributes to regional capacity-building initiatives. She is a member of ICOMOS Malaysia and serves on the Penang State Expert Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage (since 2003). Trained in anthropology, her background includes ethnographic research, archaeological fieldwork, and museum collection care.
