Dr. Yulan is Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Ethnic Literature, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and also acts as the Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Society for Jangar Studies, as well as a member of the China Folklore Society. Her academic interest lies in oral tradition and epic studies and ICH safeguarding. Based on her language competence in English, Chinese and Mongolian, she has widely conducted projects on inter-cultural communication and the translation of materials on ICH safeguarding among three languages, and conducted studies on the comprehension and translation of important concepts in 2003 Convention.
