Marcela Jaramillo has nearly 20 years of experience in intangible cultural heritage, particularly in issues related to armed conflict and migration. Her expertise also includes community-based safeguarding approaches, pedagogical strategies for capacity building, and gender-related matters in the ICH arena. She holds two master’s degrees—one in World Heritage and Cultural Projects and another in Social Policies—and has extensive knowledge of UNESCO Conventions. She has worked on ICH-related projects in multiple countries and is currently a member of the European Commission’s committee of experts on migration, a board member of the NGO Heritage for Peace, and an active member of ICOMOS and ICICH.
