Mr. Fabián Bedón, a PhD (c) in Tourism at the Complutense University of Madrid, is currently an external advisor and consultant on issues related to intangible cultural heritage and the diversity of cultural expressions in the cities of Quito, Portoviejo, and Montecristi in Ecuador. He served as Director of Culture of the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry, Deputy Secretary of the Ecuadorian Commission for UNESCO, and Project Coordinator at the UNESCO Office in Quito and the Andean Countries Representation. He has publications on intangible cultural heritage (ICH), acted as an evaluator on issues related to natural disasters, developed public policies on ICH, and has fieldwork experience with traditional indigenous knowledge (Kallawaya, Bolivia) and the promotion of Ecuador’s intangible cultural heritage in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
