Goals

  • Develop a pilot module on intangible cultural heritage to be used for extra-curricular activities in Jordan.
  • Test the pilot module through activities in pilot schools and centres in Jordan.

Description

From 2016 to 2017, UNESCO Amman Office undertook a pilot community-based inventory of the intangible cultural heritage in Mafraq. This initiative highlighted the need to develop practical tools that could be used to support safeguarding in the country.

From 2018 to 2019, a draft pilot module on intangible cultural heritage was developed for use in with young people in extra-curricular activities in Jordan. The module, developed with the involvement of the National Children’s Museum, provided lesson plans focused on intangible cultural heritage, including examples of intangible cultural heritage and interactive games to engage young people in learning. Building on the initial development, the module is being tested in pilot schools/centers in the country.

  • Module on intangible cultural heritage for use in extra-curricular activities.
  • Pilot extra-curricular activities using the module.
