Living heritage events organized online this week by Mexico and Finland, October 2020.

Researchers, governments and museums came together to organize two events for the safeguarding and promotion of living heritage:

  • The Organizing Committee of the International Congress on Experiences for the Safeguarding of Cultural and Intangible Heritage (CIESPI) has decided to organize an online event entitled CIESPCI virtual 2020 on 20-24 October 2020. This event aims to create an international academic space for the exchange, analysis and discussion of practices, research experiences and projects aimed at safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. CIESPCI virtual 2020 is organized by UNESCO Mexico, CRESPIAL and the UNESCO Chair in research on ICH and cultural diversity in association with ministries and entities of the Mexican Government.
  • A webinar on 20 October entitled Nordic Museums and Intangible Cultural Heritage will present tools helping museums to enhance their engagement with communities. The webinar is organized by the Finnish Heritage Agency in cooperation with the Intangible Cultural Heritage and Museums Project (BE); the Institute for Language and Folklore (SE); Arts Council Norway; the Danish Folklore Archives; the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, Iceland; the Greenland National Museum and Archives; the Åland Museum (FI); and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Culture, Faroe Islands.
