The eleventh session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will be held at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, from Wednesday 17 to Thursday 18 June 2026. Over the course of two days, States Parties will gather to discuss key priorities for the future implementation of the Convention, with a view to strengthening international cooperation and supporting States and communities worldwide in safeguarding and transmitting their living heritage.

Main items on the agenda include: the reports to the General Assembly by the Intergovernmental Committee and by the Secretariat on their respective activities (January 2024 to December 2025), the proposed revisions to the Operational Directives for the implementation of the Convention, the Plan for the use of the resources of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Fund in 2026 and 2027, the accreditation of new non-governmental organizations, as well as the election of twelve new Committee members.

An Information and exchange meeting on capacity-building approaches under the 2003 Convention (link forthcoming) will be organized in hybrid modality during the lunch break on Thursday 18 June 2026. The meeting will present the Convention’s capacity-building approaches as a key means of supporting States Parties in implementing the Convention, in line with the funding priorities adopted by the Intergovernmental Committee for the quadrennium 2026–2029.

Working documents for the session are made available online, in the six working languages of the General Assembly (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish).

All States Parties and participants attending are invited to register online (INDICO).
