The relevance of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the 21st century

Ghana will be celebrating the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage through a press release. Through this press release we hope to inspire the youth to appreciate and preserve Ghana’s cultural heritage, ensuring continuous transmission for generations to come and draw attention to the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Ghana.

Background
Ghana is home to diverse cultural heritage, with numerous intangible cultural elements, including traditional games, music, dance, crafts, and social practices. The International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage presents an opportunity for the nation to celebrate and intensify measures to raise awareness about intangible cultural heritage in Ghana.

Objectives

  • Commemorate the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Day in Ghana in 2025.
  • To increase awareness creation about the importance of intangible cultural heritage and its contributions to sustainable development and relevance in the 21st Century.
  • Engage the youth and social media platforms to promote Ghana’s living heritage.
  • Encourage individual (private) and community participation in safeguarding cultural heritage.
  • Encourage collaboration between stakeholders to safeguard intangible cultural heritage.
