Spanish ICH Workshops in National Museums

There is no better place to observe and to experience practices related to ICH than museums. The collections and environment they provide make them the perfect spots to contextualize and get to know some of the Spanish elements included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. During the second half of 2023,
Spanish National Museums will host different workshops in which experts from original bearer communities will explain and teach some of the practices related to their ICH, inviting different groups of age and origin to participate in them.

The first part of these workshops will be celebrated in July, offering the followings:

  • Mediterranean Diet workshop in “Museo Arqueológico Nacional” (Madrid) – 4th July
  • Flamenco in “Museo Sefardí” (Toledo) – 12th July

The second part of these workshops will be celebrated in September, offering the followings:

  • Mediterranean Diet workshop in “Museo Arqueológico Nacional” (Madrid) – 5th September
  • Artisanal talavera of Puebla and Tlaxcala (Mexico) and ceramics of Talavera de la reina and Puente del Arzobispo (Spain) making process workshop in “Museo de América” (Madrid) – 16th September
  • Falconry workshop in “Museo del Traje. Centro de Investigación del Patrimonio Etnológico” (Madrid) – 16th September

The third part of these workshops will be celebrated in October, offering the followings:

  • Tamborada - rituals drumbs workshop in ‘Museo Nacional de Escultura’ (Valladolid) - 7 October
  • ‘Ponte…Nas Ondas!’ Live radio program and workshop from ‘Museo Nacional de Antropolgia’ (Madrid) - 28 October
