Juried Exhibition for Indigenous New Media Artists and Musicians
Better Worlds in partnership with Art Management Magazine is pleased to announce the inaugural Indigenous Art 2023 Juried Exhibition for Indigenous New Media Artists and Musicians.
The purpose of this initiative is to support the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage and to explore and preserve evolving indigenous cultural expression from throughout the globe as indigenous artists express their identity and stories through digital media and music.
Better Worlds is a global media and collaboration platform, whose mission is to explore how the innovations of web3, Ai and related digital technologies can help build a more prosperous, sustainable and equitable world. Arts Management Magazine was founded in 1962 by leading intellectuals Alvin Toffler and Alvin Reiss to explore the role of business and philanthropy in the cultural arts. AMM continues to expand on that mission under the guidance of Michael Reiss.
The CultureTech Challenge provides indigenous artists and musicians with an opportunity to introduce their work to the global art and music community. We encourage artistic expression that explores the indigenous artist’s cultural insights on the impact of digital technology on the evolving relationship between indigenous identity, place, the natural world and a shared sustainable future.
The exhibition will be presented virtually with a downloadable PDF publication for visual artists as well as audio and video files for musicians. Artist and Musician profiles will be made available through the exhibition website and linked to the sponsoring organizations.
Eligibility
The invitation is open to all emerging, mid-career and established artists and musicians (18+) of Indigenous ancestry. Artists may submit up to three works of visual art and musicians up to three recordings. Works must be original and completed within the last twelve months.
Jury
Two separate juries have been convened – one judging submissions from visual artists whose membership is comprised of a group of highly regarded international art curators and established Indigenous Artists; and another jury representing international musicians and producers.

- Deadline for Registration is Monday, July 1
- Deadline for Submission is Monday, August 14
- Notification of Selected Awarded Artists and Musicians is Monday, September 11
- Live and streamed Award Reception Saturday, October 21
