International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Celebration 2025 in Qatar
The International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage 2025 is a national celebration highlighting Qatar’s efforts in safeguarding and promoting intangible cultural heritage in line with the principles of the 2003 UNESCO Convention. This annual observance aims to raise public awareness about the importance of heritage—such as oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals, and traditional craftsmanship—as a vital source of cultural identity and community continuity. The celebration reflects Qatar’s commitment, through its National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, to preserving intangible heritage as a cornerstone of cultural sustainability and intercultural dialogue. By hosting this event, the State of Qatar reinforces its active engagement in implementing the 2003 Convention and strengthening collaboration with UNESCO and other cultural institutions, while serving as a dynamic platform for celebrating Qatar’s living traditions and reaffirming the nation’s dedication to the protection and transmission of its intangible heritage for future generations.
