Ilustrando territorios

On Friday 17 October 2025 we celebrate the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage 2025 with the presentation of the community art project “La Veta” and a workshop to create new ideas to continue this exciting journey through the memory of our people.

This project is developed by the Art Group of Prádena del Rincón ‘La Veta’, whose central focus has been the transmission of the town’s intangible heritage through artistic expression, actively involving the community and strengthening the connection with the territory.

Objectives:

  • To recover and make visible elements of Prádena del Rincón’s intangible heritage (traditions, stories, local customs, popular knowledge).
  • To foster social revitalization and neighborhood cohesion through active participation in creative processes.
  • To generate spaces for intergenerational encounters to exchange experiences linked to the rural environment.
  • To contribute to the conservation of the cultural legacy within the context of the Sierra del Rincón Biosphere Reserve.

Methodology:

The methodological approach was based on:

  • Participatory research: Collection of oral histories, interviews, old photographs, and historical documentation provided by residents and the town chronicler.
  • Slow learning: Allows learners to engage emotionally and sensorially with cultural practices, which is key to internalizing and appreciating them.
  • Collective creation: Workshops and dynamics of artistic expression that focus on shared and collective creation.
  • Open collaboration: Participation of people outside the art group, residents, and visitors with personal or family ties to the area.

Programme

The event will take place at the Cultural Centre of Prádena del Rincón, as an open day for all ages:

  • 18.00h Presentation by the art group La Veta and discussion on the Illustration project in Pradena del Rincón.
  • 19.00h Workshop with Sofía Yanes. Wishes and ideas for safeguarding heritage through art and creation.
