From Batik to Pangi – Food for thought
What do Batik from Indonesia, the Sari from India, Pangi from the Maroon community, Koto Misi and Angisa from the Afro-Surinamese community, and Hindelooper costume from the Netherlands have in common? These textile traditions tell stories about their colonial past and call for reflection.
On October 5, we will take you on a journey through these rich cultural traditions during the Intangible Heritage Day ‘From Batik to Pangi – Food for Thought’. In a program full of workshops, lectures, fashion shows, and networking moments, we will explore how this heritage is given a place today and how craftsmen, artists and heritage practitioners pass it on to future generations.
