Starting out as a history and geography teacher, Sidi Traoré joined the Burkina Ministry of Culture in 2002, holding various positions there. He initiated and actively participated in the implementation of the 2003 Convention, as well as the development of laws, policies, programmes, projects, studies and consultations regarding the safeguarding of ICH. He has participated in several expert meetings at national, regional, and international levels. He has facilitated and led several workshops for the Global Capacity-Building Programme. He served as a member of the Subsidiary Body in 2012 and as a member of the first Evaluation Body.
