Inspired by the ICH Convention’s statement about “the profound interdependence between intangible cultural heritage and tangible cultural and natural heritage,” I have developed a professional career that seeks to articulate seemingly disparate fields, yet ones that can be understood and managed in an integrated manner.
I have promoted governance spaces for the public, private, and community safeguarding of ICH, and I have also sought to deepen the understanding and integrated management of ICH and Historical Memory.
I am a former director of ICH at the National Cultural Heritage Service of Chile and am currently the Technical Secretary of the Historical Memory Board.
