Overview:

The establishment of an online platform for sharing good safeguarding experiences is a priority identified under the reflection on a broader implementation of Article 18 of the 2003 Convention, launched by the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (see Decisions 16.COM 14 and 19.COM 10).

The new platform will provide a digital space for communities and other stakeholders of the Convention to exchange, communicate, and build capacities about safeguarding approaches and methodologies. It will enable the aspirations of the communities to be brought to the fore, addressing needs and highlighting safeguarding experiences that could best reflect the principles and objectives of the Convention, contributing to raising awareness of the importance of living heritage safeguarding for sustainable development.

Considering the step-by-step approach established by the previous session of the Committee (Decision 18.COM 11), an update on the progress towards the establishment of the platform is reported to the Committee at its annual meetings.
