International Conference 'Living Heritage, Civil Society and Sustainable Development'

In 2023 we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage. On the occasion of this anniversary, the UNESCO Chair on Intangible Cultural Heritage and Comparative Law, at the University of Rome Unitelma Sapienza, is organising, in partnership and collaboration with various Italian institutions, the International Conference entitled “Living Heritage, Civil Society and Sustainable Development”, which will be held in Rome (Italy) on 13 and 14 November 2023 hosted by the Italian Chamber of Deputies and the Italian Senate of Republic.

The event features the participation of the most important experts from different fields of knowledge on intangible cultural heritage and from different parts of the world (from Singapore to Uganda, from Turkey to Australia, from Brazil to Egypt, from Lithuania to Saudia Arabia). It aims to discuss the main challenges and perspectives related to the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage in both national and international levels, as well as in a comparative perspective.
