Interactive educational workshop
This interactive educational workshop brings together stakeholders from educational and cultural sectors to explore the Convention’s principles, operational mechanisms, and its relevance in contemporary cultural preservation. Through presentations, case studies, group discussions, and hands-on activities, participants will gain insights into safeguarding measures that respect community ownership while ensuring heritage vitality in changing social, economic, and environmental contexts.
Objectives
- Raise Awareness: Foster a deeper understanding of the 2003 Convention, its definitions, scope, and safeguarding approaches.
- Strengthen Capacity: Equip participants with practical tools and strategies for documenting, promoting, and transmitting ICH within their communities.
- Encourage Collaboration: Create a platform for dialogue and networking among cultural bearers, educators, institutions, and government representatives.
- Promote Sustainability: Highlight the role of ICH in fostering social cohesion, cultural diversity, and sustainable development, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Empower Communities: Support community-led safeguarding initiatives that honor traditions while adapting to evolving cultural landscapes.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to design and implement safeguarding projects, advocate for policy support, and engage communities in preserving their living heritage for future generations.
