Finding ways to protect and preserve ICH with an academic concern and indepth understanding of its distinctive characteristics.

Conducting research on and inventorying ICH and safeguarding ICH in an academic framework in the face of the rapid transformation of Korean society and culture, with in-depth understanding of its distinctive characteristics.

The ichpedia.org web project serves the purposes of (1)collecting basic information to catalogue national and regional ICH inventories, (2) discovering lesserknown ICH elements in danger of disappearance, (3) encouraging active participation of those who have an interest in ICH, (4) enhancing cultural diversity. CICS has also developed several programmes for collecting primary sources of ICH and to expand the web-based ICH inventory.
