Gabriele combines academic expertise in cultural studies with extensive hands-on experience in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage (ICH). As former Programme Specialist for ICH in Austria (2015-2021), she now co-leads Kulturerbe Consult, an Austrian NGO dedicated to the safeguarding of cultural knowledge, skills and practices. Currently, she also works with the Austrian Red Cross Department for National Disaster Management and Research, exploring how ICH can enhance resilience-building and disaster preparedness. With broad experience across all key areas of ICH safeguarding, including documentation and inventorying, promotion and advocacy, international cooperation and listing mechanisms, Gabriele brings a comprehensive and versatile approach to her work as a facilitator, with a particular focus on living heritage as a dynamic resource in building resilient societies.
