Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the 2003 Convention in Madrid's Book Fair 2023
We will be present in Madrid’s Book Fair 2023, celebrated in “Retiro” Park, recently declared World Heritage Site, through the organization of two different public and free activities related to Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH).
1. The first one will be a photographic exhibition consisting in showing the Spanish elements included in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and in the Register of Good Safeguarding Practices. Moreover, also those elements in which we are currently working to be included will be shown. It will be an open-air exhibition consisting in big panels which will surround the paths of the Fair and in which we will show photographs provided by the own bearer communities.
2. The second is a more dynamic activity in which we will invite two people from original bearer communities to give a workshop of an element or practice related to our ICH. The number of participants is not defined because the participation will be completely open, without a previous inscription.
- One of the workshops will consist in learning how to dance “jota” with a professional dancer. “Jota” is a Spanish typical dance, an element in which we are now working.
- For the other workshop, a professional whistler of La Gomera, related to the already recognized element of the Whistled language of La Gomera island (Canary Island), will teach the audience how to whistle in this particular language.
