Mme Zayachka Plamena

Assistant Professor, PhD at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Holds a Ph.D in Cultural Studies from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Her dissertation explores the transition from ‘cultural rights’ to participatory governance of cultural heritage, community involvement in the decision-making process and provides recommendations for improving the cultural heritage management system in Bulgaria. She has more than 8 years of research and practical experience related to the safeguarding and socialization of cultural heritage. Member of the team of the Bulgarian National Project “Cultural heritage conservation - analyses, documents, practices” (2016-2021). Member of the Expert Council for Intangible Cultural Heritage at the IEFEM-BAN. At various times in 2018-2019 she worked at the bulgarian Ministry of Culture, Directorate of international cooperation, European programmes and regional activities. In 2022-2023 she is a cabinet advisor at the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria.
