UNESCO Week 2023 "From Generation to Generation" dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the 2003 Convention

During UNESCO Week - from 14 to 21 October 2023 - the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO invites its Facebook followers to learn about the various manifestations and practices of intangible cultural heritage in Latvia and appreciate their importance in strengthening the resilience of communities.

During the week Latvian National Commission for UNESCO will launch an educational campaign “From Generation to Generation”, introducing the Convention and the elements inscribed on the Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists internationally and in Latvia.

On 19 October with the support of the UNESCO’s Participation Programme a conference “Cultural Literacy for Cooperation: in Search of a Common Language” will take place at the Sigulda municipality (Latvia) Culture Centre “Siguldas devons”, which will be attended by school teachers, librarians from the UNESCO “Story Libraries” network, representatives of the Latvian Memory of the World Programme and of the UNESCO Chairs.

On 20 October every Latvian-speaking will have the opportunity to challenge their knowledge about intangible cultural heritage by taking part in the online erudition game “UNESCO Quiz”, organised by the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the erudition game organiser “Lielā viktorīna”.

The UNESCO Week 2023 “From Generation to Generation”, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention on the Intangible Cultural Heritage, is organised by the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the Latvian National Centre for Culture and communities whose heritage is included in the UNESCO and Latvian Intangible Heritage Lists.
