«Un Borgo di Libri» Festival, 2025 edition "Odysseys"
On the occasion of the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage, a new edition of the international festival «Un Borgo di Libri» (lit. “A Village of Books”) is being held. The experience we want to tell is realized in the medieval village of Casertavecchia in Caserta, Italy, where with the support and active participation of the local community. Not a simple manifestation of literature, culture and entertainment, but a meeting of stories, tales, in which it is possible to discover the traditions that make the territories from which they originate unique, enhancing the history, identity and pluralism of expressions. The theme of this edition is “Odysseys”, a journey through communication and connectivity and the diversity of peoples between arts, theatre, cinema, photography, poetry and music.
The activities carried out involve the younger generations, with whom forms of transmission and education are applied based on storytelling and music workshops, like as the typical music of the “bottari” (lit. “barrel beaters”) of Macerata Campania (Italy). The purpose of the activities is to educate and raise awareness among new generations of the ICH values and the importance of safeguarding according to the principles of the 2003 UNESCO Convention, while also promoting the contribution of living heritage to sustainable development. There is no age or gender limit in participation and the entire community is involved. All activities are free to attend and they provide the scientific support of the UNESCO-accredited NGO “Associazione Sant’Antuono & le Battuglie di Pastellessa”.

The festival will take place on 25, 26 and 28 September, and on 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 October 2025, in Casertavecchia, Caserta (Italy).
